BIOGRAPHY

[Personality]
[ Chill ] [ Easy Going ] [ Sarcastic ] [ My-Pace ] [ Superstitious ] [ Mischievous ] [ Dependable] [ Gossip ] [ Shrewd ] [ Patient ]

Never one to sweat the details, Mao likes to do everything at her own pace. If she feels like studying, she'll study, and if not, she'll blow it off entirely without batting an eyelash. She's true to her own feelings and doesn't understand the way Tokyo people bottle things up and pretend over every little detail- and thus she sometimes fails to mind her manners in the same way as the city-bred folk might. True to her country folk everyone-is-family roots, Mao will always pull through when she's promised someone a favor- and she is a die-hard loyal friend once her friendship is won. She has a sarcastic sense of humor, and likes to deliver punishing one-liners that are almost always followed by her toothy grin that reassures any insulted parties that it's all in good fun. While most of her friends in middle school consisted of primarily boys, Mao has been actively seeking to expand her friend group, if only to laugh at girls who wear a lot of make-up and has been trying to tone down her blunt attitude and messy ways. Much to her delight, she has discovered that most girls enjoy gossip- and as a country girl who only ever had a certain number of people to talk about at home, Mao loves nothing more than a good gossip session- exchanging tidbits of information and secrets. To augment this love, Mao is surprisingly good at lending a listening ear and giving general life and love advice- and she is very shrewd about sharing what she knows.

[ History]
With both parents working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mao seemed destined to live an international lifestyle moving from one exotic country to another. But gripped by the fear of rejection often faced by adolescent returnees, she was instead sent to her grandparents in Kyushu. Raised in the countryside, Mao picked up the easy life style of Bungotakeda with ease, loving the great outdoors just as much as her hand held gaming consoles. While she was spoiled by her grandparents, their delicate health and inability to do many things around the house without a helping hand led Mao to be a relatively dependable granddaughter, who could make basic meals when her grandmother threw her back out, or could fearlessly scramble on top of a stack of chairs and books to replace a light bulb- much to her grandfather's chagrin. So the days went on in a blur of sunshine, sea, and contentedness and Mao grew into a likeable, if not particularly outstanding young teenager. In her last year of elementary school, her father's transfer back to Japan meant that her time in the idyllic Bungotakeda had come to an end- and moving with her parents to Seiiki City with a suitcase laden with her things, Mao found herself smack in the middle of a bustling metropolis that moved faster than her principal had the time a firework had accidentally nailed him smack in the butt. But friendly and adaptable, Mao struggled with her 'southern country-bumpkin' persona for only the first year in school, making fast friends with the boys soccer team as their manager. Barely scraping by the considerably harder city-level curriculum, Mao barely made it into Seiiki High School- of course, nothing like the Tokyo high schools her father had hoped she'd test into- but better than nothing at all. And other than a few failed exams and summer make-up classes here and there, her life continued in an entirely monotonous and smooth-sailing routine. Given her mediocre marks, Mao likes to stir up a little harmless trouble every now and again, and is always looking for something new to make her boring life a little more interesting...

[Trivia]
- Mao keeps her bangs long because she got a ridiculous raccoon-like tanline from her sunglasses in middle school and used her hair to hide it. She's used to it now, so even though the tanline is gone, she keeps it long.
- She's a huge fan of Western, English speaking countries even though her English sucks.
- She has a juice box addiction and most of her wallet dries up because of the too-easily-accessible vending machines.
- Her favorite dish is Demiglace Hamburg with Rice.
- Her favorite sports are soccer and snowboarding.
- She can't draw to save her life, and she doesn't have an artistic bone in her entire body- but she can make the meanest bowl of instant noodles you've ever tasted. (AKA she's good at sprucing up instant meals but can't actually make anything from scratch...)
- She's short aaaand it doesn't bother her in the slightest except for when it comes to playing basketball. If someone mistakes her for a kid, she'll milk it for all it's worth.
- Thinks the school bow makes her image confused (cool vs cute???) and takes it off whenever she's out of sight of the teachers. (And gets in trouble when she forgets to put it back on.)
